연제 : Development of molecular tools for spatiotemporal control of LRR-RK-mediated signaling pathways

Abstract

In plants, a wide range of extracellular signals including endogenous hormones, peptides and pathogen-associated molecules are perceived by membrane-localized leucine-rich repeat receptor kinases (LRR-RKs) and regulate plant development and immunity. Among the LRR-RKs is BRI1, which is a receptor for plant hormone brassinosteroid (BR) that plays diverse roles in plant growth and development. Although the molecular mechanisms of BR signal transduction from the membrane-localized BRI1 to nuclear transcriptome changes have been well studied, our understanding of BR actions, especially cell-type specific BR functions and functional relationships with other signaling, is still limited due to the lack of molecular tools that enable the spatiotemporal manipulation of BR signaling. Currently, we are developing a genetically encoded molecular tool (RiBRI1) that allows the control of BR signaling using a chemical other than BR. Today, I will present the design of such molecular tool and some results indicating that BR signaling can be controlled by our molecular tool.
