Abstract
Epigenetic aberrations, which represent heritable dysregulation in gene expression or cellular phenotypes without DNA alterations, have emerged as a principle force for tumorigenesis and metastasis. Histone lysine (K) methylation is a hallmark of epigenetic and transcriptional regulation of gene expression and is modulated by histone methylation modifiers, such as histone lysine methyltransferases and demethylases. However, we are just beginning to understand how histone methylation modifiers regulate tumorigenesis and metastasis. In this seminar, exciting progresses regarding the roles of this type of epigenetic regulators in tumorigenesis and metastasis will be discussed.
