Genome-wide research that was previously only possible at large genome centers is becoming routine project in individual laboratories. Furthermore, as researchers switch their focus from single genome to cohort-level genomic analyses with an increasingly comprehensive genomic characterization (eg, whole genome, transcriptome, epigenome, microbiome), data analysis challenges have moved into Big Data category. In my talk, I will put these trends and challenges into context to provide a perspective on how the Korean Bioinformation Center (KOBIC) can work with research community in building infrastructure for community resources to meet the needs of translational genomics research. This presentation will include specific example of currents efforts in building a nation-wide open service infrastructure, i.e., “Genome-InfraNET” for customized analysis of genomic data derived from the post-genome pan-ministerial genome program.
