연제 : Coordinated epigenetic reprogramming during plant regeneration

Abstract

Plants have the remarkable ability to drive cellular reprogramming and tissue regeneration. Changes in epigenetic landscapes accompany the cell fate transition. Notably, modifications of chromatin structure occur primarily during callus formation via an in vitro tissue culture process. Pluripotent callus cells have unique epigenetic signatures, and responsible molecular components are starting to emerge. I will briefly update the latest progress in epigenetic regulation of plant regeneration. This talk will mainly illustrate tissue identity transition during callus formation. In the leaf-to-callus transition, antagonistic interactions between Polycomb-group (PcG) and Trithorax-group (TrxG) underlie the leaf gene silencing process. Subsequently, consistent with the fact that callus resembles the lateral root primordium, a subset of the LATERAL ORGAN BOUNDARIES DOMAIN (LBD) genes, which is responsible for establishing lateral root primordium, is under the dynamic control of multiple chromatin modification. Combination and sequence of the chromatin modifications are important features of intricate cell fate changes. In addition, this talk will also highlight fundamental questions related to pluripotency establishment.
